Ben Shephard

Ben Shephard is a seasoned venture investor and strategic capital advisor with more than 15 years of experience supporting high-growth companies across finance, technology, and consumer innovation. He was formerly Executive Director and Co-Head of the New York Office at CIBC Innovation Banking, where he partnered with founders and investors to structure capital solutions for early- and growth-stage companies in sectors like enterprise software, consumer health, and applied AI.
Prior to CIBC, Ben was a Director at Silicon Valley Bank, where he led relationships with emerging enterprise software companies across the Tri-State area. Earlier in his career, Ben helped shape IBM’s Competitive Cloud Strategy team, building financial models on major competitors, advising on M&A opportunities, and authoring strategic briefings for IBM’s senior leadership. He began his career in investment banking at Credit Suisse and also held capital markets roles at Bank Leumi and Bank of America.
Ben holds an MBA from The Wharton School and an MA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania’s Lauder Institute. He earned his BA from the College of the Holy Cross, where he majored in Spanish and Latin American Studies with a minor in Economics.
An active leader in the startup ecosystem, Ben is a member of the Wharton Alumni Angels and a trusted advisor to early-stage founders preparing for institutional capital. He is passionate about unlocking innovation at the intersection of technology, health, and sustainability.
Originally from Harlem, Ben now lives in Briarcliff Manor, NY with his wife, Naima, and their two children, Nya and Wesley. He is also a proud full Ironman finisher and an alumni interviewer for both Penn and Holy Cross
