Dr. Paul H. Dorestant is a Brooklyn-based entrepreneur and community advocate, dedicated to building businesses that drive both economic growth and social impact. As co-owner of BK9 Restaurant and Bar, he has spent the past decade establishing BK9 as a vibrant culinary destination in Park Slope, Brooklyn, known for its Caribbean-inspired cuisine, welcoming atmosphere, and commitment to local partnerships.

Paul is also a partner in Transcend Wellness Products & Services (https://transcendwps.com) , a federation of licensed New York State recreational cannabis dispensaries. Through Transcend, he champions informed, safe, and responsible cannabis consumption, with a focus on education, consultation, and creating inclusive spaces for wellness in underserved communities.

In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, Dr. Dorestant has made significant contributions to higher education. He currently serves as Interim Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at New York City College of Technology (CUNY), where he leads initiatives that promote student success, engagement, and equity. His work in higher education is rooted in a commitment to expanding access, fostering belonging, and supporting holistic student development.

Dr. Dorestant holds a BA in Statistics with a minor in Sociology from the University of Rochester, an MBA from Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business, and an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University.
