Jim Forward

Jim Forward is a multi-venture entrepreneur, brand strategist, and systems thinker whose career has spanned over three decades at the intersection of creativity, technology, and intellectual property. He is the Founder and President of Behold World Art Exchange, a breakthrough platform that transforms physical artworks into monetizable digital IP—empowering artists globally through discovery, licensing, and storytelling.
Jim’s career began with a bold leap into digital design at a time when most were still working on drafting tables. In the late 1980s, he founded Lightscapes Ltd., the region’s first computer-based design studio, introducing digital technologies and new workflows to corporate clients. His instinct for anticipating creative-tech shifts became a hallmark of his work.
He went on to build Forward Branding & Identity, a nationally recognized brand consultancy serving Fortune 500 companies, high-growth ventures, and mission-driven nonprofits. Under his leadership, the firm became known for distilling complex ideas into powerful brand systems—helping organizations build lasting value around their intangible assets and intellectual property.
Throughout his ventures, Jim has consistently worked at the edge of innovation—launching platforms, products, and experiences that bring untapped ideas to life. He has founded or co-founded multiple startups, including TrailBuddi, a mobile storytelling and tourism platform, and Second Shift, an overnight creative studio serving local ad agencies. He also served as fractional creative director for EchoStone, an international housing company led by his co-founder Jaime Sanchez.
Jim’s current focus with Behold draws on the totality of his experience—branding, systems design, storytelling, and a lifelong collaboration with artists. Behold is the culmination of a mission he’s long championed: to elevate everyday creators by turning their expressive work into sustainable, protected income.
A graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Jim also studied Brand Strategy at Columbia University. He has been named to Rochester’s “40 Under 40” and continues to serve as a mentor and advisor to founders, artists, and creative leaders.
At his core, Jim believes that great ideas—when properly framed, protected, and shared—can reshape markets and cultural narratives alike.
